Turning Connection Into Impact: $2,040 for the Blue Tree Project

At Brew, coffee is about connection — the two minutes at the bar, the how's-your-week over a long mac, the regulars we'd notice straight away if they stopped coming in. For the whole of June we turned that connection into impact 💙
We donated 100% of the funds from our limited edition Roasters Club tees to the Blue Tree Project, helping raise vital funds and awareness for men's mental health. And thanks to you, we're stoked to share the final tally: $2,040 raised.
Why the Blue Tree Project
Blue Tree Project is an Australian grassroots initiative focused on breaking the stigma around mental health and encouraging open conversations — especially among men, who are too often told to "tough it out" in silence.
It's a story that started close to home. The first blue tree was painted on a family farm in WA's Wheatbelt back in 2014, as a bit of a joke between two mates. After one of them, Jayden Whyte, was lost to suicide in 2018, that tree became something else entirely — and in 2019 it grew into a movement. There are now more than 1,600 blue trees registered around the world, each one a prompt to check in, speak up and keep an eye on the people around you. As the team puts it, the blue trees are a symbol of hope, not loss.
For a Perth roastery, supporting a movement that began in our own backyard was a pretty easy call.
The Limited Edition Roasters Club Tee
The tee did the talking — our Roasters Club design in deep forest green, printed with a little blue coffee pot throwing a peace sign, cuppa in hand. Every one sold in the café and online through June put its full purchase price straight towards the cause.
You didn't just buy a t-shirt. You backed a movement reminding people that it's okay to speak up, ask for help and check in on each other.
From Our Brew Family to You — Thank You
Through your generous purchases, we were able to raise $2,040 for the Blue Tree Project, who are doing vital work for men's mental health. We know they'll do amazing things with your donations 👏🏼
Thank you to everyone who bought a tee, shouted a mate one, or simply started a conversation about it over a coffee. That's the whole point 🫶🏼
Keep the Conversation Going
The fundraiser has wrapped up, but the conversation shouldn't. If you'd like to know more, paint a tree of your own, or support the work directly, head to the Blue Tree Project. And if you or someone you know is doing it tough, their Find Support page lists where to turn — or call Lifeline any time on 13 11 14.
In the meantime, the kettle's always on. Drop into the Wangara café for a cup and a chat, or browse our coffee and brew one at home. Check in on your mates — it's a conversation worth having.
