Respect for people

Our Social Commitment

How we respect and protect the people behind our coffee, in our own operations and right along our supply chain.

Commitment to Human Rights

Brew Coffee Roasters – Commitment to Human Rights

Brew Coffee Roasters commits to respecting internationally recognised human rights, as set out in the International Bill of Human Rights and the International Labour Organization's Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work. This includes:

  • freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining
  • the elimination of all forms of forced labour and modern slavery
  • the effective abolition of child labour
  • the elimination of discrimination in employment
  • a safe and healthy working environment

This commitment applies to our own operations, including our roastery, flagship café, warehouse, Barista Academy and delivery services. It also applies across our value chain, from the farms and cooperatives that grow our coffee to the suppliers of our packaging, equipment and services.

We recognise that our most significant human rights risks sit at the start of our supply chain, in coffee-producing countries. There, child labour, forced and bonded labour, unsafe pesticide exposure and wages below a living income are documented risks. In our Australian operations, we focus on fair and lawful pay, safe work, and fair treatment of contractors and labour-hire workers.

In line with the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, we will:

  1. 01Seek to avoid causing or contributing to negative human rights impacts, and work to remediate them where they occur.
  2. 02Consider human rights impacts in our most material purchasing decisions, prioritising the most severe potential impacts.
  3. 03Work with importers and producers who share this commitment, favouring long-term relationships and fair purchasing practices that support decent incomes for farmers and workers.
  4. 04Provide a channel for workers, suppliers and others to raise concerns without fear of reprisal.
  5. 05Review this commitment and our progress regularly, and communicate openly about it.

Responsibility for this commitment sits with our General Manager.

Approved by Peter Barile & Alexander Barile Perth, Western Australia, 06/10/2026.
